A thousands of years old Japanese process by which pottery is fired at a relatively low temperature 1750 degrees, and then rapidly cooled in a closed container…in this case a trash can filled with sawdust. The sawdust ignites and then is covered to create smoke which darkens the clay body while the glazed areas crack, or produce a variety of metallics and colors. The clay earrings are light and porous and can be infused with Essential Oils.
